Abbe started her activism in junior high school demanding equal dress codes for girls and boys. In the seventies she was marching for ERA and soon after arriving in Los Angeles started fighting for renters rights. From marching, to legislating, to advocating Abbe is committed to equal rights for all.

Abbe’s current community involvement includes:

  • AIDS Community Action Foundation.
  • The L.A. County Department of Health Services’ Women’s Health Policy Council
  • National Women’s Political Caucus
  • The Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project
  • TransCanWork
  • Women Against Gun Violence


Most recently, she co-founded an Indivisible Los Angeles Chapter: ROAR Resistance.
